About Circassian Benevolent Association
Established June 19, 1952, the Circassian Benevolent Association was launched by members of the Circassian Diaspora who found refuge in the United States following the Bolshevik Revolution, World War I and World War II. Our original founding fathers trace their roots to the Soviet Union, though our community grew significantly in the late 1960s when we were joined by ethnic Circassians from Syria who were originally displaced during the Russian-Circassian War of 1763 – 1864.
